All Providers - Billing and Authorization Updates

orange.jpgProviders will no longer need prior authorization for medication management, CPT code 90862, certain initial assessment codes, and certain injection codes. Click here for an updated list of codes. Please remember that services not identified above will continue to require pre-certification. MHNet staff is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to precertify routine care and MHNet Case Managers are available 24/7 for urgent and emergent needs.
Reminder regarding claims - you have two billing choices. The fastest, most efficient way: electronically through our clearinghouse, Emdeon, with Payer ID 74289; or submitting paper claims. For more claims billing details: click here.

If concerns arise when incorporating these changes into your office routine or you have questions, please call MHNet during business hours at the same contact number used in the past - these remain unchanged. MHNet's contact number is typically on the back of the member's identification card.

  Maryland Providers ONLY

green.jpgIn addition to the above change:

  • Please continue to use the State-mandated OTRs
  • Fax the completed form to: 1.512.340.4213
  Pennsylvania Providers ONLY

purple.jpgEffective July 1, 2010, MHNet is pleased announce several positive changes.

  • The Outpatient Treatment Records [OTR] has been redesigned by a nationally recognized firm with feedback from providers around the country. They are data-driven to improve outcomes. The number of sessions authorized now will be based on the severity of the symptoms reported. However, for Act 106 eligible members, the number of sessions will follow the regulation.

  • Following are two versions of the OTR - mental health treatment OTR form: click here; substance abuse treatment OTR form: click here. For instructions on the Outpatient Treatment Report: click here. The member's signature is no longer required. Please make master copies of these OTRs, as the versions you currently use will no longer be utilized after November 1, 2010.

  • The submission process for the OTR has been revised as well. Please fax completed OTR forms to the fax number indicated on the bottom of the OTR form. If your form does NOT have a fax number on the bottom (such as state mandated forms for Maryland), fax the completed form to MHNet at 1.512.340.4213. All OTRs now will be sent to one centralized location, date-stamped, scanned, and converted into electronic data. This will reduce concerns regarding possible lost faxes. Providers will continue to receive authorization reports as usual for the treatment procedures that still require pre-certification.

  • Once the new system is fully operation, providers will be able to complete the OTR online, as many providers have requested this option. In addition, personal outcome-based data will be graphically represented for your review on our website.
